Build an energy efficient building and receive favorable beneficial assistance

This program is aimed at encouraging the construction of energy efficient buildings that will reduce your operating costs and increase the resale value.

The buildings must be at least 25% more energy efficient than the standards of the Model National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings.

Financial assistance from the Energy Efficiency Fund (EEF)

• Obtain $1.50 per cubic meter of natural gas saved, up to a maximum of $300,000.¹

If you install an appliance that is covered by the Gaz Métro program for more energy efficient appliances, the cubic meters saved due to these appliances, as well as the savings resulting from a natural gas conversion to another energy source, will be deducted from the savings financed by the EEF.

Validation of the energy simulation

Validation of simulations done with the EE4 software is now handled by the EEF. Thus, the review fees are now paid by the program. Consult the participant's guide (PDF | 159 ko) for all the information and to know the steps to follow. If the simulation is done with software other than EE4, validation is not covered by the program and is at the customer's expense. In this case, contact the EEF to know the procedure to follow.

It is also possible to submit a project whose building's energy performance is validated by another authority, for example, buildings that are the subject of LEED certification may be accepted. In these cases, you must inform the EEF before the start of construction to ensure the eligibility of your project and to know the procedure to follow.

Are you eligible for this program?

Eligible are Gaz Métro customers who own or rent commercial, industrial, institutional or multi-unit buildings with four or more units, with the exception of customers subject to tariffs 4 and 5.

Steps to follow

	E-mail the financial assistance application form (DOC | 366 ko) duly completed to bpaille@fee.qc.ca. Attach the electronic file of the simulation with EE4 (file .BLD).
	EEF will confirm the potential amount of financial assistance based on the natural gas savings provided by the simulation.
	Once construction completed, send us the documents required to validate the energy simulation. Consult the list of documents required in the participant's guide (PDF | 159 ko).
	After the review of the simulation, the EEF will confirm the total amount of financial assistance based on the results of the validation.

You have up to 18 months, following the issue date of the occupation operation building permit or date of the certificate produced by the architect attesting the completion of the work, to submit your project. If, for any reason, you foresee passing the delay allotted, please contact the EEF.
